Mediation for a lawsuit filed by a California family against three Amarillo police officers has ended with no settlement reached and one of the officers dismissed from the suit.

Last month a judge ordered the parties involved to bring in a mediator to reach a settlement. That has not happened and the mediator has been dismissed from the case.

During that process, attorney’s for the Wartena family and one of the officers agreed to dismiss one of the officers from the suit and the judge agreed.

The lawsuit was filed last year claiming civil rights violations occurred back in July of 2016 when police were searching for missing seven-year old Alexis Wartena.

The suit claimed the actions of the officers named hindered the search for Alexis.

Alexis’ body was found in T-Anchor Lake behind the hotel her family was staying in the day after she went missing.
