In addition, the firm, located opposite the University of Cape Coast’s East Gate, would roll out ADR public awareness creation events and training seminars to promote the adoption of ADR mechanisms by organisations and individuals in the region for the settlement of their disputes.

Omanda ADR Centre, named after Omanda- meaning peace and reconciliation- an appellation of the Akatakyiwa community in Mfantsiman municipality, is poised to play a pivotal role in fostering harmony and justice in the Cape Coast community and its environs.

It is headed by Nana Poma Kwaaduah XVIII, Chief of Akatakyiwa, and a professionally trained ADR practitioner and graduate of the prestigious Gamey and Gamey ADR Institute, and the Institute of Paralegal Studies.

In an interview, Nana Poma Kwaaduah indicated that “the Omanda ADR Centre is not just a place for resolving conflicts; it is a beacon of hope for anyone seeking justice through peaceful means.”

“We firmly believe that disputes can be resolved amicably, fostering long-lasting relationships and strengthening the fabric of our society,” he stressed.

Nana Kwaaduah, who is also Adontenhene of Nkusukum Traditional Area, explained that with ADR gaining increasing recognition as an effective alternative to the traditional court system, the Omanda ADR Centre aims to reduce the burden on the courts and create a more accessible and people-centric approach to dispute resolution.

“By adopting negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and counselling methods, the centre seeks to empower individuals and organizations to find mutually beneficial resolutions and avoid the adversarial nature of conventional litigation,” added Nana Kwaaduah who wields enormous experience in ADR practice as a traditional leader and professional.

The centre’s range of services covers various types of disputes, including but not limited to land and property matters, commercial and business disputes, family and community conflicts, and workplace disagreements. Its team of skilled and experienced ADR practitioners will guide parties through the resolution process, ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and impartiality in handling cases.

The impending opening of the Omanda ADR Centre has been met with enthusiasm and support from various quarters in Cape Coast. Residents and organizations are optimistic that this facility will serve as a catalyst for positive change and contribute significantly to building a more peaceful and cohesive community.
