The Gamey and Gamey ADR Institute has closed its masterclass training for the first 2026 cohort of the Professional Executive Master of Appropriate Dispute Resolution (PEM.ADR) programme, marking the completion of six months of intensive tutorial and practical learning.

The cohort will be embarking on the mediation expedition to sharpen their skills

The closing session, held at the Institute’s campus in Tema on Saturday, brought together the participants from diverse professional backgrounds who had undergone a blended learning programme comprising five months of online instruction and one month of in-person sessions. The programme was designed to equip the participants with the knowledge, practical skills and professional competencies required for effective practice in Appropriate Dispute Resolution.

The completion of training for the batch of 38 participants, now paves the way for the cohort’s next major practical component, which is three-day mediation camp at the Aburi Botanical Gardens, scheduled for next month.

The mediation expedition will provide participants with an intensive experiential learning environment in which they will undertake mediation simulations, apply the techniques acquired during the programme and complete practical project work under the guidance of experienced facilitators.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Austin Gamey, Chief Executive Officer of Gamey and Gamey Group, and the lead Facilitator, commended the participants for their commitment, discipline and active participation throughout the six-month programme.

He encouraged them not to regard the completion of the programme as the end of their professional development journey, but rather as the beginning of a continuous process of learning and professional growth.

Mr. Gamey urged the participants to embrace continuous professional development and remain committed to maintaining high professional and ethical standards in their practice.

He noted that the effectiveness of ADR practitioners depends not only on academic knowledge but also on continuous refinement of practical skills, professional judgment and ethical conduct.

The Deputy Class President, Gifty Lovelock Fianu, General Secretary of the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association, on behalf of the cohort, expressed appreciation to the management and faculty of the Institute for the support, guidance and knowledge imparted throughout the programme.

No question was missed

She acknowledged the commitment of the facilitators and the practical orientation of the training, which she said had contributed significantly to the participants’ professional development.

The six-month programme brought together professionals from different fields, providing a rich environment for the exchange of experiences and perspectives on dispute resolution. Through the blended learning model, participants were exposed to theoretical foundations as well as practical approaches to negotiation, mediation and arbitration processes.

Mr Edmund Mingle, Head of Programmes at the Institute, commended the participants for completing the class sessions, and urged them to effectively prepare for the practical assessment phase during the mediation expedition.

The upcoming annual Aburi mediation camp, he explained, is designed to further deepen this practical component through intensive role plays and simulated mediation cases, enabling participants to demonstrate their ability to apply ADR principles and techniques in realistic dispute situations.

The successful completion of the cohort’s class sessions reinforces the Institute’s commitment to developing a critical mass of competent and professionally grounded ADR practitioners in Ghana and beyond.

Meanwhile, the next PEM.ADR cohort is scheduled to commence on September 26, 2026, with prospective participants expected to join another six-month professional training journey.
