The Ghana Education Service has conducted a staff reshuffle exercise in which 16 of its Regional and Divisional directors across the country have been reassigned.
Only the Eastern and Northern regions were not affected in the reshuffle which takes effect from September 1, 2017.
Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, Acting Director-General of GES, in a statement, said the exercise was part of efforts to enhance the operations of the Service.
“As a sequel to our information to you recently and in the interest of the Service, the following changes in Divisional/Regional Directors have been made effective September 1, 2017,” the statement said.
As part of the changes, more than seven directors in the various regions have been re-assigned to Accra and will be operating from the GES headquarters in Accra.
Those affected are Kwadwo Osei-Asibey, Alexander Mawusi K. Buadi, Enyonam Afi Amafuga and Mr. David Afram, who are Brong Ahafo, Volta, Western and Central Regional Directors respectively, have been reassigned to the national headquarters in Accra.
Others are Michael Inkoom, who heads to DGs office, would be replaced by outgoing Adenta Municipal Director, Angela Tena Mensah and Amina Achia would now head the Special Education Unit, taking over from Anthony Boateng who would now move to Human Resource Management and Development (HRMD) department at headquarters.
Director in charge of supplies and logistics, Beatrice Zalio Ali is transferred to head the Upper West Region, Jane Sabina Obeng now moves from Upper West to the Central region with Dr. Peter Attafuah expected to head the Brong Ahafo region.
The Volta, Western and Greater Accra regions will now be headed by John Kwadwo Teku, Addo Dankwa Akuffo and Hilda Eghan respectively in acting positions with Judith Ofeibea expected to head the HRMD department at Headquarters.
The GES Director-General, Prof. Opoku-Amankwah was appointed to the position in April 2017 taking over from Mr. Jacob Kor who was appointed to the office some two years ago.
Until his appointment, Prof. Opoku-Amankwa was the Dean of International Programmes at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
