Muslims in Ho Zongo have resumed worship at the Ho Central Mosque following its reopening by the National Chief Imam on Saturday, October 10, after several months of closure.

The mosque was shut indefinitely after violent clashes linked to a dispute over leadership positions, during which a shooting incident left 13 people injured.

Although the reopening allows worship to resume, the leadership dispute remains unresolved, prompting calls for the authorities to address the underlying issues to prevent further violence.

Speaking to Citi News, Ho Zongo youth leader Mohammed Salisu Kidzah welcomed the reopening but insisted that those responsible for the shooting must face the law.

“We are happy for the reopening. There were a lot of people here in the morning celebrating the reopening. As for the shooting incident, it is a matter of the law and we will pursue it to the latter and we want the law to take its course.

“We don’t know what will happen next if we don’t follow it to the latter because it wasn’t the first time they came to shoot at the mosque. We want peace and the National Chief Imam called for peace when he was here.”
