Members of the 2023 graduating cohort of the Professional Executive Master of ADR (PEM.ADR) of the Gamey and Gamey ADR Institute, have undergone an internship orientation training to prepare them for their mediation internship at the courts.

The orientation, held by the Court-Connected ADR Directorate of the Judicial Service at the High Court Law Complex in Accra, is a crucial step in preparing the newly trained ADR practitioners for their upcoming mediation internships across various courts in the country.
Jointly conducted for graduates from the Gamey and Gamey ADR Institute and the Ghana Association of Certified Mediators and Arbitrators (GHACMA), the orientation provided insights into court-connected ADR processes.

For the participants from the Gamey and Gamey ADR Institute, the internship orientation comes after their completion of a 31-week rigorous ADR training and a three-day camping for mediation simulations.
Mr. Alex Nartey, Director of ADR at the Judicial Service, facilitating the orientation, provided valuable insights into the intricacies of court mediation and offered guidance on navigating the challenges that may arise during the internship.

The orientation covered a wide range of topics, including the role of court-connected ADR in the legal system, ethical considerations in mediation, and the practical aspects of mediating disputes within a court setting.
Among other objectives, this internship programme is part of an ongoing effort to foster collaboration between ADR training institutions and the judicial system, ensuring the development of highly skilled and competent ADR professionals.
The collaboration between the Court Connected ADR Directorate, the Gamey and Gamey ADR Institute, and GHACMA not only strengthens the bridge between training and practice, but also contributes to the overall growth and professionalism of the ADR landscape in Ghana.
